Buffalo and Johnson County are tucked away between the rolling plains of the Old West and the towering peaks of the Big Horn Mountains. Whether it's beautiful scenery, wide open spaces, great outdoor recreation, or getting a sense of our history through two great museums, Buffalo and Johnson County are places you'll love to visit. You'll enjoy the Western hospitality of restaurants from family fare to fine dining, in addition to shops and art galleries, plus a selection of hotels, motels, campgrounds, guest ranches and mountain lodges.

There are 20 motels, 3 mountain ranches, 11 private campgrounds, 7 Forest Service Campgrounds and over 25 restaurants in Buffalo, Kaycee and Johnson County. The Big Horn Mountains provide a number of activities in the summer and winter. Enjoy the Cloud Peak Scenic Byway on your way to fishing, hiking and camping. Winter activities include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and snowmobiling. You'll find a free public pool in the city park in the summer and a four-star golf course in the heart of town.

Don't Miss: In July, the Big Horn Mountain Festival brings a host of down-home bluegrass performers to Buffalo http://www.bighornmountainfestival.com
