Black Hills of Wyoming Snowmobiling

Forty miles of groomed trail highlight the Wyoming side of this system; these miles connect to 295 miles of the Black Hills System in South Dakota. Facilities and service are available along the trail and in Sundance and Newcastle. Rentals are available at Dampier’s Lodge and Trailshead Lodge. Expect snow depths from one foot to four feet. There are several permit-selling agents in this area for your convenience, although the nonresident user fee is not required in this area due to the high volume of traffic crossing the Wyoming/South Dakota border.

Elevation: 5,000 feet to 7,000
Season: December through March
Season Temperatures: +30 F to -20 F

This trail system is maintained through cooperative efforts of the Wyoming Department of State Parks & Cultural Resources/Division of State Parks & Historic Sites, the U.S. Forest Service and the local snowmobile club.
