Tips for creating effective descriptions for your property

The most useful information is inviting, clear and brief.

An example of an effective description:

Nothing compares to an evening with Cheyenne's Acme Orchestra. Now in its 54th season, the orchestra presents more than 100 concerts September through June. This season, artistic director John Smith invites you to take a “musical odyssey.” (240 characters with spaces)

More tips:

As you begin to compose your desciption, ask yourself what’s the most appealing and unique aspect of your attraction/restaurant/shop/accommodations? Is it location? Amenity? Style?

Do you offer items for sale that nobody else has? Are you located next to a state park? Do you have a pool? Are all the buildings log-cabin style?

The description part of your listing does not include your physical address, phone number or Web site, because these will entered separately. There is also a separate opportunity for you to detail driving directions to your property and specific activities and amentities. For the description, focus instead on telling your potential customers what makes your property worth visiting.

Some things to avoid:

• Capitalizing entire words. It may make the word stand out, but it also makes it harder to read.
• Excessive abbreviations. Abbreviations should be used sparingly or readers may find descriptions hard to follow.
• Awkward Capitilization Of All The Words In A Sentence.
• USING ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IN YOUR DESCRIPTION.
