Our Mission: Carbon County Museum collects, conserves, interprets, and disseminates regional history to inspire Carbon County cultural entities and all learners-today and tomorrow. Our museum features the story of the outlaw, Big Nose George Parrott and the intriguing disposal of his remains.  We celebrate Wyoming's first female Physician/Surgeon, Lillian Heath and we are the home to an original Wyoming State Flag.  We are also the only museum in Wyoming with an Edison Foundation collection.  Carbon County Museum's permanent collections are used to support a variety of traveling exhibits depicting life in the west, Indian legends and lore, western justice, the construction of the Union Pacific Transcontinental Railroad, the rich heritage of cattle and sheep ranching and mining throughout the County.  Currently featuring 2 traveling exhibits from the Wyoming State Museum:  Miss Yamanashi, Wyoming's Friendship Doll from Japan and The Merci Train:  Gifts from the People of France.  These exhibits will be at the museum from Nov. 3-Jan.9.
 


Wyoming Office of Tourism has developed a professional certification program for businesses who work with the traveling public. The purpose of the program is to acknowledge frontline personnel as certified travel professionals, develop a trained and knowledgeable workforce for the travel and tourism industry, and create a more visitor friendly Wyoming. This business has been certified as a destination marketing specialist.
