At Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park, east of Casper off I-25, cottonwoods cast reflections on the historic North Platte River and lend shade to visitors. A pond with a sandy beach is an oasis in the summer months, while the river provides habitat for a variety of wildlife. For visitors, the river provides fishing, canoeing and rafting. The 315-acre park is designated for day-use only, so there are numerous picnic and play areas. The park also features bird-watching opportunities and a handicapped-accessible fishing pier. A walking path and parking areas allow visitors to explore the many corners of this pleasant park and to view some of the finest wildlife in the area.
