Early day mail and stage stations along the Oregon Trail eventually grew into permanent Wyoming towns. A case in point is the Old Horseshoe Stage Station, now the town of Glendo - best known today for its popular outdoor recreation opportunities in the area. Just south of Glendo, a white post marks the site of the Old Horseshoe Stage Station. The station, situated on the Oregon Trail, served as a frontier Overland Stage, Pony Express and telegraph station.
Recreation opportunities are endless in the area with Glendo Reservoir only a couple miles from town to the east. Boating, skiing, fishing, camping, hiking, and much more can be taken advantage of at Glendo State Park.
