Plaza
Diane grand opening will feature art, entertainment
The
grand opening celebration of the Plaza Diane Community Center for the Arts will
be Thursday, Aug. 27 at Plaza Diane, on the corner of Bent and Second streets
in downtown Powell.
The
project to revitalize the languishing 1950s gas station was funded through
private donations and a Community Facilities Grant from the Wyoming Business
Council.
The
festivities will kick off at 6 p.m., with brief remarks and a poetry reading by
Northwest College English instructor, Burt Bradley. Attendees are then invited
to view the first gallery show, “Powell’s Portraits,” featuring drawings and
poetry of Powell old-timers by John Giarrizzo and Bradley.
Dance
music will be provided by the Fireants. Their unique cross-cultural sound has
gained them a following across Wyoming. Their performance is funded in part by
a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State
Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Food,
beer and wine will be available for purchase. For more information, call
307-272-1187 or 307-754-2221.
