When you step through the front door of the Historic Occidental Hotel in Buffalo, Wyoming, you are truly stepping back into the Old West - standing on ground trod by the likes of Butch Cassidy and Calamity Jane. In addition, everywhere you look, you will see the way it really was in Frontier Days. The stunning embossed ceilings in the lobby and the saloon are the original ceilings. The magnificent back bar in the Saloon is the original back bar. Even the chairs you will sit on are likely to be antiques original to the hotel. The original Occidental Hotel has been accurately and beautifully restored to its original grandeur and is the only fully restored Frontier hotel in Wyoming. The accommodations combine historic authenticity with modern comforts and all suites and rooms are furnished with antiques, and decorated in elegant period style. All of them also have private baths, comfortable Queen or King beds, and central air conditioning.
Award-winning restoration of one of the great frontier hotels of Wyoming includes elegant and spacious suites available, beautifully restored 1908 saloon (complete with bullet holes). Fine Western dining in an opulent 1890s setting at The Virginian Restaurant. Outdoor dining at The Clear Creek Cafe during the summer season. Founded in 1879 in a tent alongside Clear Creek, The Occidental Hotel was the first establishment in the area that later became Buffalo, Wyoming. Today, the Occidental boasts two restaurants, the only authentic frontier saloon in Wyoming, a Living History Museum, and some of the most comfortable and beautifully restored rooms and suites to be found anywhere, making it the perfect venue for everything from business conferences, to weddings, to a simple overnight stay. Truly one of the historic treasures of Wyoming, the Occidental is also a fully functional hotel with all the modern amenities, including satellite TV and wireless Internet access.
