A National Historic Landmark the Historic Sheridan Inn was constructed in 1892 by the Burlington & Missouri Railroad and the Sheridan Land Company to accommodate businessmen, politicians, and families needing a place to stay as they fulfilled their roles in the economic expansion of the West. The Inn is on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Exhibits reflect the history of the Sheridan Inn, the city and county of Sheridan. Exhibits reflect the history of the Sheridan Inn, the city and county of Sheridan. Col. Wm. F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody's association with the Inn is well known as he made it his home from 1894 - 1902, auditioning his Wild West Show participants on the lawn of the Inn. This association is celebrated each summer in June with a reenactment of "The Show" with trick riders, marksmanship demonstrations, Indians, cowboys and a costumed Grand Ball. A parade down Main Street in Sheridan kicks off the event.
Each of the twenty-two guest rooms at the completely renovated Historic Sheridan Inn is named for and focuses on Buffalo Bill Cody and twenty-one other key characters from his long life and times. Each "mini-museum" room will present the life and times and individual histories of the well-known character in the overall finish and furnishing, art, artifacts, and exhibits of the room. The Inn itself serves as a museum from the hand-hewn beams and painted lobby frescos to the historic bar.
The Historic Sheridan Inn and the 1893 Grille & Spirits provide a food and beverage environment reflecting 1890's class and style, paying homage to the historic tradition. Menus include farm to table foods of multiple Wyoming products indigenous to the area, while hosing the best beef products in Sheridan. Lunch and dinner offer daily specials and seasonal menu items and theme brunches. Summer and early fall dining on the porch and in winter in front of a cracking fireplace.
