Lander
July 3rd and 4th
Lander is the home of the oldest paid rodeo in the world. Lander is located at the base of the Wind River Mountains only a couple of hours from Yellowstone National Park. Lander is the perfect setting for Independence Day!
The Pioneer Days Rodeo is two nights of action on July 3rd & 4th. The rodeo features top contestants from throughout the region and lets all of the children join in the calf scramble. It is truely a family affair.
The morning of the 4th opens with a pancake breakfast at the Senior Center, then join the throngs of people who line Lander's historic Main St. for the best Independence Day Parade anywhere. After the Parade you can enjoy the Lander Rotary Club Buffalo Bar-b-que at City Park.
Two nights of fireworks highlight the event. July 3rd at Dr. Bills' and July 4th after the Rodeo.
If Bulls, Bulls, Bulls are your thing, you can check out the Bad Boys of Bull Riding Event July 4th at the Willow Creek Arena. 12 of the Mountain States best Bull Riders compete for top honors at 6:00pm.
For visitor's who want to participate, there is the Lander Half Marathon the morning of the 4th. The Half Marathon features both a walk and a run and several different age groups as well as men's and women's divisions.
