Opening day of fishing in Yellowstone National Park

Memorial Day weekend signals the opening day of fishing in Yellowstone Park-finally!The western side of the park opens and includes the Firehole,Madison and Lewis rivers,as well as Lewis Lake. After seeing the "combat fishing" at some roadside access areas,I have focused on Lewis Lake.Sometimes icy, often snowy, this lake performs well in the cold conditions of early season.Bright lures and fly patterns,as well as standard trout catching patterns, can all work well for June.I always bring a boat and work shallow water for the most action on mid-sized trout.Brown Trout and Lake Trout are the expected catch,in the 14" to 24"size range, along with the occasional Brook Trout.

Will I see you there? I can only say"tight lines!" if I do!
