Southeast Wyoming
Category:
Region
Cheyenne (the State Capital) and Laramie are the gateway cities for visitors entering the state from the east on Interstate 80. The prairies of Southeast Wyoming support farming and ranching – herds of cattle and sheep and vast stretches of wheat fields color the land. The plains give way to mountain ranges – the Laramie Mountains and the Medicine Bow Range (known locally as the Snowy Range), the Shirley Mountains, the Seminoe Mountains and the Sierra Madre. The cities and towns of Saratoga, Encampment, Sinclair and Rawlins give this part of the state its frontier feel. Cheyenne, in fact, is home to the annual Frontier Days rodeo.
