The East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is 53 miles west of Cody. It is very picturesque as it climbs over Sylvan Pass and descends to Yellowstone Lake. In this final year of road reconstruction, the East Entrance will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. - 8 a.m. until May 25. After May 25, the entrance will be open 24 hours a day with short delays possible until the project is finished in late summer. The East Entrance is closed in the shoulder seasons from early Nov - mid-Dec and mid-March - early May. Winter travel is only accessible by guided snowmobile or snowcoach tours.
