Delicious! Old school! Great value! Best breakfast ever, possibly?

The Prairie Rose (P.R.) is definitely an old school hole in the wall that you could easily miss. If you are ever in Laramie and hungry for breakfast, don't! I mean, don't miss this place. From the eggs to the hash-browns to the pancakes to the chicken fried steak to the handmade cinnamon rolls to the coffee. Everything we had at this place was spot on. The portions were pretty darn big and seriously delicious. When I looked at the menu I couldn't find anything that cost more than $10.00.

I haven't been here on a Friday night, but apparently Friday night is steak night and judging by the quality of the breakfast it sounds like quite a deal.

I really want to stress that if you are ever in Laramie you have to stop by this place. It was really like almost going back in time. You immediately realize that the way things operate in this place have not changed in probably forever. And thank the Good Lord they haven't. I swear that the decades old griddle must have so much flavor and essence of delicious saved up in it that everything cooked on it absorbs every ounce of decades old incredible deliciousness.

The place was packed and for the entire time we were there people just kept pouring on in. Miraculously the place never got backed up and it never really felt crowded. It did feel incredibly cozy. It really was the kind of place and the kind of food that made you think, "I could easily live in a small town that has places serving up food like this!"

The cinnamon rolls at this place are incredible. The dough tastes like homemade biscuits and has a consistency more similar to biscuits than a cinnamon roll from a place like Cinna-bon or any that come from a Pillsbury tube. However, at the P.R. the cinnamon and sugar filling on the inside and the frosting on top are on a whole different level. Like All-star v. rookie with the P.R. dominating from above. The cinnamon rolls are about the size of a generous tea-cup plate and sit atop the front counter having come fresh from the oven on a baking sheet. Once they are gone for the day they are sold out....

The P.R. also offers a nice, if mild, green chile that comes poured over their enormous breakfast burrito or as a yummy side dish. The chile doesn't pack a lot of heat, but it packs a ton of flavor.

The pancakes are really light and fluffy and huge! Seriously, they qualify as Man-cakes and can be savored individually, in a short stack or a full stack. A short stack comes as 3, and they are huge.

I had one of the best pieces of chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. The crust was crispy, the meat was tender and flavorful. The gravy covering the CFS was creamy, peppery and delicious.

(Have I said delicious)

There is one strange thing about the P.R. that seems to be a bit common in Laramie. According to the menu, this place closes by 3 PM everyday except Friday. The night reserved for steak night. (I seriously want to go back for that.)

I really really enjoyed the P.R. The type of breakfast that makes you super happy to have taste-buds. Another great thing about the P.R. is that it completely reinforced my appreciation and delight of Yelp! I found this incredible place by using my Yelp! App for iPhone. There are not that many places in Laramie with Yelp! reviews, but the ones for which there are, are awesome! The P.R. was the second straight place of delicious delight in Laramie for me and my friend
